Year 9 BUILD Workshops

On Tuesday 9th January, Year 9's term got off to an exciting start, as every student in the year group got the chance to take part in a Build workshop.

The workshops, led by BUILD, a private construction training centre, based in Hayes, gave our students the chance to try out a range of practical career options, from bricklaying to plastering. The students really enjoyed themselves and many of them described how the sessions were a fantastic way of exploring a range of careers, which they don’t usually get to try inside the classroom.

Louis, 9C, told us: “Taking part in the workshop was really fun. I especially enjoyed the bricklaying, as it was something different. A career in electrics is something I might consider in the future, so getting a chance to try it in school was great.”

BUILD is passionate about supporting young people to develop their skills within the trade industry, and believes it is a career that offers young people a bright future. Ruislip High School is lucky enough to have built a strong relationship with the company and some of our students have gone on to work with them on some of their programmes.

We would like to thank BUILD for coming into the school to lead such a brilliant day.
