Welcome from the Headteacher

Welcome to Ruislip High School, where we provide outstanding, inclusive education. We are a centre of academic excellence but we are also a genuinely comprehensive school, where our high expectations ensure students reach our high aspirations and realise their undoubted potential.

The journey for Ruislip High School began when the school opened its doors to its first cohort of Year 7 students in September 2006. In its short history, the school is proud to have been graded Outstanding by Ofsted three times, most recently in December 2023, providing external validation to what we know about our school: ‘pupils thrive’, behaviour is ‘impeccable’ and ‘inclusivity is at the heart of school life’.

Ruislip High School’s logo reflects the students’ journey from grass roots to reaching for the sky. We are a centre of academic excellence, with our mantra that hard work equals success reflected in our alumni, some of whom have attended the most prestigious universities in the world and taken up apprenticeships with successful multinational organisations. They are testament to the resilience and character that we are determined to foster in all our current students. Teaching and learning will always be at the heart of everything we do. It is our core business and our teachers are passionate about their subjects and share that passion with  our students. Ofsted (December 2023) recognised that ‘leaders have designed and implemented a rich and highly ambitious curriculum for all pupils, including in the sixth form’ and that ‘teachers have consistently high expectations of the work that pupils produce across subjects and year groups’.

However, we also recognise that education is more than what happens in the classroom and we are committed to the personal development of our students. The school runs an extensive ‘above and beyond’ programme that encourages students to thrive and pursue their interests whether these are extensions to the curriculum such as Science club or more extra-curricular clubs such as boxing, cooking, fencing, Japanese or robotics. We are also one of the few schools to offer the Duke of Edinburgh Award at all levels - Bronze, Silver and Gold. We have a strong pastoral structure and an exceptionally strong safeguarding team. We encourage student voice both in the forms of a Parliament and Year Team Councils.

We are a school both in, and for, the community and I could not be prouder of the community and culture that our students and staff have created together. Our students wear our uniform with pride and this is undoubtedly their school. We have strong relations with our feeder primary schools and with higher education institutions and local businesses. We work closely with parents and are fortunate to be supported by the Friends of Ruislip High School, our PTA. We are also part of the Vanguard Learning Trust, a local cross-phased multi-academy trust committed to school improvement. Together we work in partnership with local schools and realise our vision of outstanding, inclusive education.

I hope visitors find this website useful and informative, and I look forward to welcoming prospective students, parents and staff to the school in the near future.
