Year 7 Trip to PGL Liddington

On Friday 23rd May, 2025, 110 of our Year 7 students went off on an adventure to PGL Liddington, to build a range of skills, foster community between themselves and celebrate approaching the end of their first year at RHS. The weekend was an unforgettable experience filled with laughter, adventure and opportunities for personal growth.

Over the three days, students took part in a range of activities which were both exciting and challenging. Students showed off their teamwork skills on Jacob’s Ladder. They had to help each other climb up to the top in groups of three with nothing but their own strength and a rope to help. The rest of their group provided encouragement from below and kept a steady hand on the safety ropes. A special shout out to Antony, Freddie and Mason for their quick work and encouragement to each other.

From axe throwing to abseiling, zip lining to survival skills, archery to outdoor team games – every activity gave students the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, build confidence, and support one another. Ella, Anna and Leo in particular showed real bravery when attempting some of the more daring activities. Myles and Audrey showed off their archery mastery.

The evening entertainment was just as memorable with a game show and the silent disco - which ended up not so silent as students belted out their renditions of Barbie Girl and showed off their dancing skills. Students also got to witness the incredible dance moves from Mr Sim and Mr Walsh!

Hanna, 7D, said: ‘PGL was amazing and a once in a lifetime opportunity to be away with friends and have fun with them. I’m so happy I went!’

It was wonderful to see students developing new friendships, demonstrating teamwork and resilience as well as embracing each challenge with enthusiasm and positivity. Thank you to Ms Loizou, Head of Year 7, for leading the trip, as well as the other staff members who supported the weekend away.
