Year 12 guest speaker: Hilary McGrady

Year 12 students recently had the opportunity to hear from Hilary McGrady, Director-General of the National Trust, in an engaging and insightful talk.

Hilary McGrady spoke about her career journey, sharing how her passion for heritage, nature, and conservation led her to one of the UK’s most influential cultural organisations. She highlighted the wide range of roles within the National Trust, from environmental science and conservation to marketing, finance, and visitor engagement, showing students that there are many different pathways into the sector.

The talk was particularly relevant for students interested in subjects such as history, geography, environmental science, business, and politics. It provided a valuable insight into leadership, sustainability, and the impact of large organisations in preserving national heritage.

It was an inspiring session that left students reflecting on their own ambitions and pathways they can take in life.
