Summer Concert
On the evening of Wednesday, 16th July 2025, Ruislip High School’s concert hall was alive with the vibrant sounds of our Ruislip High students who were performing in the much-anticipated Summer Concert. Hosted by our presenter Nicole G, the event managed to showcase an impressive variety of musical talent spanning classical, contemporary, jazz, rock, and more.
The program opened with Roman L’s elegant performance of Joe Hisaishi’s “Merry-Go-Round of Life,” a piece known for its emotive beauty. Roman then teamed up with Ray C to deliver a haunting rendition of Shostakovich’s “Waltz No. 2,” blending clarinet and piano with exquisite harmony.
The evening moved seamlessly between genres — Pearl P’s soulful guitar and vocals paired with Velizar G’s drums brought a fresh take on the classic “It’s Been a Long, Long Time,” while Kasia K dazzled with a virtuosic solo of Chick Corea’s jazz fusion hit “Spain.” Mr Bai’s String Ensemble energized the hall with a lively Irish Jig Medley, and the Year 10 Singers, accompanied by Ms Nastou, offered a heartfelt version of “Somewhere Only We Know.”
Edward T’s stirring solo of Bright Eyes’ “Train Under Water” introduced a more introspective mood before the RHS Choir lifted spirits with the upbeat summer anthem “Riptide” by Vance Joy. The Year 10 Band then turned up the volume with powerful performances of Radiohead’s “Creep” and KISS’s classic “Detroit Rock City,” showcasing raw energy and rock finesse.
Velizar G’s solo performance of the complex and technically demanding “Physical Education” by Animals as Leaders was a highlight, followed by The Rollos’ dynamic renditions of indie rock favorites “Someday” and “Here Comes Your Man.” The night’s energy soared with a heavy-hitting drum and bass tribute to Metallica by Kacie W-O and Velizar.
The concert concluded on a grand note with the full Ruislip High Concert Band performing an eclectic finale including the timeless “Moon River,” and a very exciting ending with some Blues improvisation.
The Summer Concert was a memorable celebration of musical artistry and school community spirit — a true testament to the power of music to inspire and unite.
The Music Department at RHS would like to congratulate the incredible performers
See you all at the Winter Concert!
