Christmas Community Event
On Thursday 11th of December, our Sixth Form students hosted their annual Christmas community event, warmly welcoming over 70 local residents. This much-anticipated occasion is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Sixth Form calendar, and judging by the overwhelmingly positive feedback, it holds an equally special place in the diaries of seniorcitizens in our community. The effort and enthusiasm shown by our staff and students created a wonderful atmosphere of celebration and community.
Mr Sills, Head of Sixth Form, said 'our Christmas community event was such an uplifting occasion and our students were impeccable hosts. It was lovely to see so many senior citizens enjoying the company of our students, who showed real maturity and warmth. We are delighted so many of our guests had such an enjoyable evening'.
The event was packed with festive activities with guests enjoying a fun Christmas quiz, followed by a highly competitive game of BINGO, with excellent prizes including vouchers for local cafes. The excitement reached its peak with a very special guest appearance of Father Christmas (who had an uncanny resemblance to our Head of Sixth Form) who stopped by to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Mia in Year 12 commented that 'it was the highlight of my year, I really enjoyed getting to know members of our local community and hearing their stories. It was so lovely and I am excited to help out next year.'
Sue Midgley, of the Ruislip Residents Association said 'the school does so much for the community and this event was such fun. The sixth form students were so sociable and friendly. Everybody left the event feeling like Christmas had begun!'
Our Sixth Form students rose to the occasion, proving to be exceptional hosts throughout the evening. They ensured every guest felt welcome and entertained. It was heartening to see our usually busy study room transformed into a hub of genuine community connection, full of smiling faces, laughter, and the spirit of festive cheer. Deputy Head Student, Ethan, said 'it was great to see people's faces light up during the quiz and the BINGO, and to host this festive event.'
Mr Davies, Headteacher, said: “The event was the true embodiment of what I mean when I describe Ruislip High School as a school in, and for, the community. “
The success of the evening exemplified the strong bond between our school and the surrounding community. We extend our sincerest thanks to all the residents who joined us and made the event so memorable. We are already looking forward to next year's event!
