The National Extended Certificate in Sport is a two year programme that is equivalent to an A Level.
The course deals with the scientific themes and concepts of sport and exercise science, and aims to provide studies in sport which are directly related to the changing needs of employers in specific areas of the sport and recreation industry.
Year 12 units
- Anatomy and Physiology in Sport (Written examination set and marked by Pearson)
- Professional Sports Development in the Sports Industry (internally set and marked assignments)
Year 13 units
- Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being (Written examination set and marked by Pearson)
- Practical Sports Performance (Internally set and marked assignments)
Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including GCSE PE.
Two years, full time.
Higher Education courses such as Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Therapy or Sports Management, employment in teaching, coaching and gym instructing in the fitness industry.
