RHS Winter Showcase

On Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th December, 2023 the Drama and Music departments hosted a festive extravaganza to celebrate the end of term: The RHS Winter Showcase!

Students from Years 7-12 took part in both musical and dramatic performances to the delight of the audience. The evening highlighted the plethora of talent we have amongst the students of Ruislip High School and all who attended agreed that it filled all of the audience with festive spirit.

All of the students absolutely shone throughout, from an incredible rendition of ‘River’ performed by Mia, to a hilarious duologue performed by Isabelle and Kalel. The students all performed with a level of confidence and professionalism, which ensured they did themselves proud.

Katie, who took part in another hilarious comedic skit told us: “I have always loved getting involved in school performances - and I feel like we get better every year.”

Lyla, who performed alongside Katie, followed this up by saying: “It has been such a good experience getting involved with the Winter Showcase. There’s a really fun atmosphere amongst all of the students who have taken part and we really feel like a community.”

For some of the students, it was their first time getting involved with a school performance. Max, who appeared in ‘A Christmas Carol’ shared: “I watched the school production last year and really enjoyed it. So when the opportunity came to be in it this year, I had to have a go. I am so glad I put myself forward - it has been really fun!”

Finally, Kalel, who also has not appeared in a school performance before said: “Personally, I have had so much fun developing my acting skills and gaining confidence performing. But, I have also enjoyed the social side of being part of the show and made lots of new friends.”

The Winter Showcase was led by the Music and Drama departments at Ruislip High School, who have worked hard throughout the term to ensure the performance was a high quality extravaganza. It was also the final show that our current Head of Drama, Mr Alexander led, and all are very sad to see him go.

Ms Ohana who oversaw the event said: “The Winter Showcase epitomises what makes Ruislip High school a fantastic place. School performances help to develop our students beyond the classroom and give them a chance to express themselves creatively. It is a privilege to watch the students give their all when performing.”

“I would also like to add that I am very sad to say goodbye to Mr Alexander. We have worked together for seven years on a range of projects from school pantos to leavers’ videos. I will miss his creativity, direction and the sense of humour he brings to all creative endeavours. He will be greatly missed.”

A huge well done to all of the students who performed in the Winter Showcase. Thank you again to Mr Alexander, Mr Randall and Ms Nastou for all of their work putting the show together. We would also like to say thank you to the parents and members of the community who supported us by coming to watch the show.
