Key Stage Three enjoy STEMbiotics

From Monday 21st November until the end of term, our Key Stage Three students will have the opportunity to get involved in an exciting technology workshop, focused on robotics and STEM, led by our Science Department.

The robotics and coding workshops are designed to give students the opportunity to learn how to code, design, engineer and build their own robots, in both simple and complex forms.

Students will use a range of motors and sensors to build their creations, with the overall objective of programming the robot to get from one point on a map to another. The workshops are incredibly dynamic and lively; all students will be encouraged to work in their groups to develop a personalised robot.

Year 7 took part in the workshops on Monday 21st November and all students had lots of fun, whilst learning new technology skills.

Ashaz, Year 7, told us: “Getting to make our own robots was lots of fun. It was interesting learning how to programme them and then watching them move.”

Ms Hide, Director of Science, told us: “The workshops have been a fantastic experience for our students. It is always exciting to give students the chance to learn in different settings beyond the classroom and it has been a privilege to see them use their creativity fully.”

Thank you to Ms Hide for organising such a wonderful opportunity for our students.
