BIMA Digital Day 2022

On 9th November, Year 10 computer science students participated in the BIMA Digital Day 2022.

The event is a unique opportunity which gives 11-16 year olds an insight into the world of digital careers. Students compete in a sponsored, nationwide digital challenge for a chance to win £500 cash for their school and some fantastic prizes for themselves.

We had three external visitors from digital product accelerator, Nimbletank Ltd, who discussed career opportunities and explained the competition briefs to the students. This year's briefs were provided by Primark and Royal Mail. Both companies provided challenging goals for the day, which our students thoroughly enjoyed.

Primark was looking for the students to find a digital strategy to promote their new product line ‘Primark Cares’, focusing on sustainability. Students competed in groups and the winning team for the Primark brief was Brayden, Rahul, Noor, Zayn and Beth.

Meanwhile, Royal Mail asked students to think about and propose digital strategies to streamline their parcel delivery services, under the title ‘Digital Doorstep’. The winning team in this category was Aarav, Theo, Arnav, Max D and Velizar.

All of the students found the day incredibly valuable. Tawhed said: "It was interesting to know about the variety of jobs in the digital sector".

Gurveer supported his comments: "It was a very enjoyable day and I loved working on the brief today. It gave us insight about the type of work that companies like Nimble tank do.”

Congratulations to the winning teams and well done to all the Year 10 students who participated in the day. The winning entries will be entered as a part of the national competition. We will find out the final national results in February, so watch this space.
