Animal Adaptations trip

A group of year 12 students who are interested in studying Biomedical or Veterinary Sciences at university were able to attend an event at Brunel University this week. The theme of the workshops was ‘animal adaptations’ and the students were able to create their own strand of DNA and make them into a keyring. In addition to this, the students learnt about the heart and were able to take their blood pressure with their arm at different positions to see how it affected the reading. As part of the day students also met current students from both Brunel University and the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) and found out how to apply for university, how to become a researcher and the types of courses that are offered at the RVC. It was a fascinating day for all those involved.
