Recycle Printer Cartridges/Stamp collection

Stamp collection poster please click here

One of the aims of Ruislip High School is to be as environmentally friendly as possible, so we are pleased to announce a new initiative to recycle printer cartridges.  As well as helping to increase recycling of this particular product, Ruislip High can benefit by receiving funds for each cartridge collected.

Recycling printer cartridges is not a new idea, but are you aware of the value of your used cartridge?  Before you simply put it in the bin, consider the following:

  • Each cartridge can be worth between 25p and £6.00.

  • All original printer cartridges are manufactured abroad – recycling creates jobs here in the UK and saves imports.

  • Re-using a cartridge saves over 1.5kg of plastic and metal being used in the manufacturing process, as each one can contain over 100 individual parts.

  • It could be one less item destined for the landfill site.

Not all printer cartridges are recyclable – it is important that they are ‘original’ cartridges, and not compatible ones.  To see whether your cartridge is of use for recycling, please go to www.laserxchange.co.uk, click on ‘Fundraisers’ and then ‘collection list’, which is highlighted in red about half way down the page.  A link has been set up on the school website for your convenience.

If your cartridge is recyclable, please send it in marked for the attention of the school office, complete with all original parts and packaging supplied.  And why not ask your friends, relatives or even your place of work if they could donate their used cartridges to Ruislip High as well?
