Specialist Schools Bid

Success!

It gives me great pleasure to announce that our bid to become a Specialist School in Maths and Computing has been successful on its first submission. This is very unusual, as most schools are unsuccessful in their first bid and have to resubmit their application for refinement and further consultation.  The success of our overall application is as a result of a massive effort by Sue Davison (School Director for Maths and ICT) and Sue Taylor, (Deputy Head) who were responsible for putting together the application.  I would also thank VSM Estates for their donation £20,000.  The money has been earmarked for the development of a multimedia centre for school and community use, which will give a huge boost to the School in our pursuit of excellence in Maths and ICT.  VSM Estates’ donation reflects its ongoing commitment to making a positive contribution to local communities across the London Borough of Hillingdon.  VSM Estates is a joint venture between St Modwen Properties Plc and construction firm Vinci and is responsible for delivering the MoD’s Project MoDEL. The flagship project for London will see the redevelopment of a number of former MoD bases within the M25, including four sites in Hillingdon, and will fund state-of-the-art facilities and new accommodation for servicemen and women at a consolidated base at RAF Northolt.  This is a wonderful example of business engaging with the community in a positive way, and VSM Estates’ donation is warmly welcomed by students and teachers alike.  Once open, the new Maths Suite will provide us with superb facilities for our students and the wider community and make sure we continue to build on our growing reputation for excellence in Maths and Computing. John Cavill, Director of VSM Estates, has said “We are delighted to be able to support Ruislip High School.  It is an excellent school serving the local community and also supports the children of service people based at RAF Northolt.  We are confident that the new Maths suite will provide real benefits to the students and the community. We wanted to make a major difference to children in Hillingdon.   We are looking forward to further strengthening our relationship with the community across the Borough in years to come, especially as we begin the development process at RAF Uxbridge.”
